It’s Not How You Start, It’s How You Finish

We’ve all heard stories of how successful people got started from humble beginnings. Some of these individuals were bankrupt and homeless. Many of them were rejected and divorced. Through it all, they made a decision to achieve their dreams with hard work and dedication. Some folks think that prosperous people always had a good start. So their head start made it easy for them to attain success relatively easy.

This is not true for everyone. Most self made millionaires started from the bottom and rose to the top. The problem is that most people want to start and finish at the top. What they fail to understand is that in between the start and finish, is something called the process. The process is the build up phase. In the military, you must first be broken down before you can be built up. That’s the process.

Starting is easy, but finishing is the hard part. Everyone knows it’s easy to start a diet but it’s hard to finish one. There is no doubt that there is a fight to the finish. You are fighting against an unbelieving society. You are fighting against foes in your household. You are fighting against old habits. But it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

In Stephen Covey’s book, “Seven habits of highly effective people”, the author says “begin with the end in mind”. I am convinced that too many people are beginning with the end behind. If you started a business but didn’t finish it, now is the time to finish it. If you wanted to write that novel but didn’t write it, start writing now. Dig deep down within yourself and know that you are a finisher. Tell yourself “ I AM A FINISHER!”

In conclusion, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. In order to get to the mountain top, you must first start in the valley. The reason why is because valuable lessons are learned in the valley. Life is comprised of learning experiences and relationships. Throughout our journey, we will meet people who will assist us to our finish.

Much Success
